FAQs
Questions about BS/MD admissions counseling
What is a BS/MD program?
A BS/MD (or BA/MD) program offers conditional or guaranteed admission to medical school alongside undergraduate admission, allowing students to bypass or streamline the traditional post-undergraduate medical school application process. These programs are highly selective, often admitting a small fraction of applicants.
When should my student start preparing for BS/MD programs?
Ideally in middle school or early high school. BS/MD applications evaluate years of academic rigor, sustained clinical and research experience, and genuine commitment to medicine, and profiles built starting junior year rarely have time to develop authentically.
What happens if my student doesn't get into a BS/MD program?
We build every BS/MD strategy alongside a strong traditional pre-med and undergraduate admissions plan, so students remain highly competitive for standard admission and can pursue medical school through the conventional path if a combined program doesn't work out.
Do BS/MD programs require specific test scores or GPA minimums?
Most programs publish minimum GPA and test-score benchmarks, but meeting them does not guarantee admission. Clinical exposure, research, essays, and interviews all factor heavily into highly selective committees' decisions.
