FAQs

Questions about Ivy League admissions counseling

Can you guarantee admission to an Ivy League school?

No one can, and we will never claim otherwise. Ivy League and Ivy-caliber schools admit a small fraction of highly qualified applicants, and outcomes are never fully predictable. What we can guarantee is a strategic, honest process: realistic self-assessment, a well-built list, and the strongest application your student is capable of producing.

What GPA and test scores do I need for the Ivy League?

There is no single cutoff. Strong Ivy-caliber applicants typically show the most rigorous coursework their school offers with excellent grades, and, when submitted, test scores in the top percentiles. But numbers alone rarely explain admissions decisions. Context, narrative, and fit matter as much as metrics.

Should my student apply Early Decision to increase their odds?

Sometimes, but not automatically. Early Decision can meaningfully help at some institutions and is binding, so it should only be used on a genuine first-choice school after a clear-eyed look at finances and fit. We help families weigh this decision carefully rather than defaulting to it for perceived odds alone.

How early should we start preparing for Ivy League admissions?

Ideally by 9th or 10th grade. Ivy-caliber applications are built on years of course selection, sustained extracurricular depth, and testing strategy, not a strong essay written senior fall. Earlier planning gives students more room to build a genuinely competitive profile without a last-minute scramble.
